    Introduction

The Nokia 2760 was released in May 2007 for both the North American and the world markets. This is a phone for those on a budget as well as those with an eye for class. It comes in a variety of colors and includes a colored external monochrome display. The Nokia 2760 is designed, not just for those that are interested in making calls, but also people seeking some form of entertainment through the built-in FM radio and the audio and video players. The Nokia 2760 is a lightweight phone which is easy to handle and comfortable to use. With that I start off by looking at the design of the Nokia 2760.

nokia-2760-combo The Nokia 2760 comes in a clamshell design model. The immediate most noticeable thing about this phone is the dual display. The front closed face of the Nokia 2760 is fitted with a 1.2MP camera which has noticeably got no LED flash. Below it there is a blue monochrome display which by default displays the current time. The back of this phone is reserved for the battery and therefore you find the entire back housing being exclusively reserved for the battery compartment.

Opening the flip there is a 1.9 inch display and above it there is the ear piece for voice calls. The bottom half of the phone is fitted with the numeric keypad and right above it there is the softkey panel which comprises the call begin and the call end buttons. Above those buttons on either side you'll find the menu options softkey button and the exit softkey button. In the center of everything there is the five-way scroll key. The power charging connector and microphone are at the bottom of the phone. All these are housed in a sturdy plastic casing.

The Nokia 2760 is of an appropriate size which is comfortable to hold and will comfortably fit into any garment pockets. The Nokia 2760 measures 87 x 44.8 x 20.7 mm and weighs in at a mere 81 grams. The colors that the Nokia 2760 is available in are Navy Blue, Velvet Red, Sandy Gold, Smoky Grey and Metallic Black.

    User Interface

    Rating Average

Navigating the user interface on the Nokia 2760 is simple and straightforward. All commands on the display can be accessed using the five-way scroll key, the options softkey button and the exit softkey button. There is a home screen that shows alerts from the organizer and calendar events. Each application and settings option is represented by an icon. Navigating the icon grid layout is done using the five-way scroll key's four navigation controls for moving up, down, left and right. The center key is used for selecting items.

Text can be entered into the Nokia 2760 using the numeric keypad. In both normal input or T9.

    Features

    Rating Average

nokia 2760 The Nokia 2760 is capable of connecting to the Internet at a relatively slow speed which is restricted to GPRS. There is no other option, such as EDGE, 3G or Wi-Fi, available to the user to access the Internet.

The Nokia 2760 is also quite restricted in internal memory with only 10MB and no card slot to complement the internal memory. There is also no support for USB connectivity. The only cross device connectivity on the Nokia 2760 happens to be Bluetooth.

This Nokia phone comes with a display that measures 128 x 160 pixels with support for only 65K colors as the primary display and a secondary external display measuring 96 x 68 pixels. The Nokia 2760 shows call records for no more than the last 20 calls.

The Nokia 2760 comes with a WAP 2.0/xHTML browser, an FM radio with no RDS, and support for Java and downloadable games. There is an audio and video player on the Nokia 2760 that can play downloaded videos or videos from the 640 x 480 pixel built-in camera. With these features you can see that the Nokia 2760 is a pretty basic phone.

    Performance

    Rating Average

The Nokia 2760 deceptively gives the impression that it is an old slow phone but the opposite is actually the case. The Nokia 2760 may have little to offer but it makes the best of what it has. The sound quality on the device is good as far as listening to audio from files. As for the call quality, one would have little to complain about as calls are clear on both ends of the line and this phone is not accustomed to dropping calls at random. With a talk time of 6 hours, I would say that the Nokia 2760 phone has great battery performance.

The display is not very sharp on the Nokia 2760 but on a menu system that will not be an issue. The camera and picture quality of the Nokia 2760 is quite poor. Pictures rarely come out great, especially in poorly lit areas. You would be better off owning a separate camera for taking photos.

Internet connectivity on the Nokia 2760 leaves a lot to be desired. This is a phone you may be comfortable with browsing only text based WAP websites otherwise you will be bound to be frustrated.

All in all the performance of the Nokia 2760 stands at average.

    Verdict

    Rating Average

The Nokia 2760 is a phone that may not have a lot of power packed into it but makes up for it with its clear and strong cellular signal reception. This is a phone that I would recommend for strictly call making and receiving and for text messaging. There are a few other features that will let you do other things with the Nokia 2760 but you should use these with care. For about US$30 this is a phone I would still recommend getting if you just want a cheap, functional phone.
