The Nokia 5800 XPressMusic is a S60 5th generation device with Symbian O.S version 9.4. The installation is quite easy and even keeps track of your version so you know when there is an update available. The features presented in WaveSecure allow you to secure your phone in a variety of manners that best suit your needs.
To download WaveSecure simply visit http://m.wavesecure.com on your mobile device, or at http://www.wavesecure.com/download.aspx/, you can get a link to download the application from SMS no matter where you are located. The application then installs to the phone’s main memory by default and takes around 850 KB of space. One excellent feature that relates to the installation is that if an update occurs your mobile device will automatically detect the update and download the current version.
In order to activate WaveSecure and use it on your mobile device you are required to enter a username you wish to use, a 6 character pin and an alternate phone number for pin recovery purposes. Once you have done this the application is ready to go and you can begin to secure your phone and backup data. (Note that you are unable to backup media files at this time)
Whenever you select “Secure Phone” from the WaveSecure application menu on your mobile device you must enter the pin as a security precaution.
There are many different options for how you can secure your phone and this allows for great customization. You can alter or initiate the buddy notification, configure the mobile device to be locked, set it to notify your contacts when the SIM card is changed, wipe the phone clean and change the pin. These options are available from the “Secure Phone” menu.
By using the bottom left soft key “Options” you are able to perform some of the common tasks WaveSecure allows you to perform. From the “Options” soft key you are able to lock the phone, changing the pin, checking for updates and other commonly used features.
Another feature is the ability to backup data either as whole or as individual data entities. The backup must be done using a GPRS/3G connection due to Wi-Fi capabilities not being built into the application yet. The backups can also be automated, which is always a great bonus if you are paranoid about data loss.
In addition to using this application on your phone you can also access all features of WaveSecure on the internet. This allows users a very powerful tool to help track down their phone if it’s lost or stolen due to the unauthorized SIM feature that WaveSecure employs. You can track call and SMS logs that will aid you in your pursuit, alternatively you could just lock your phone so it can’t be used.
