This application is in an early development stage so upon reviewing this application, I did anticipate some issues would occur, and I took these into consideration while performing the review. I installed Virtual Mobile on a Nokia E71 which is an S60 3rd generation Symbian device.

Installation
Rating Excellent

The installation is very straightforward using the Nokia Application installer to install the SISX file. You are also required to register at least one mobile device and create a user account with the Virtual Mobile website. By following their “Getting Started” guide found here, you'll be able to go through the installation process quite easily.

The design of the web application is organized into two tabs, one which manages your profile and the other for the activity dashboard.

Within the profile page, you are able to manage settings such as your associated email, your pin and devices that are to be synced. When you register you will be required to enter a username, password and also a 6 digit pin that is used for authenticating with the web application. You can also register up to four mobile devices with one account.

Users then have 2 GB of online storage and the dashboard shows the latest activities that have been performed by a particular mobile. It also shows how much space you have used and how much is available.

The left screen displays two menus, device management and data management. Within these menus, you can view and edit data and mobile phones that are associated with your Mobile account. To add a new device is very simple; all that is required is entering the verification key that is sent to the device on the website to allow the mobile number to authenticate. You must authenticate with the key in order to use any services on your mobile device.

Another security feature is that you can allow it to lock the device for sync, which means you are only able to sync when you enter a password. This feature is still in development.

On your mobile device, you will be required to configure Virtual Mobile with a username, password, access points and data items you wish to sync to use the application. As you can guess, if it’s not one of your devices registered on the website you will not be able to authenticate with the Virtual Mobile website. Upon authenticating it will make sure the device is paired up with one registered with your account.
