VUFONE follows a standard installation procedure. The version I used was 2.03(4) which supports both GPRS/3G and Wi-Fi network access.
In order to use VUFONE you are required to register on their website using both an email and a mobile number for which all functions will be done, once this is completed you are able to download and install it to your mobile device. VUFONE gives you 1000MB of data to work with online.
VUFONE has support for a number of different services.
Transferring contacts is very easy and all information is transferred to your account when you synchronize. When compared to other cloud applications I have used VUFONE is much more reliable in terms of secure transfers that prevent data loss.
You can also synchronize your contacts to your Gmail account. This allows a unique three way synchronization between VUFONE, Google and your mobile device while allowing more quality assurance in terms of data protection. The only thing that is not quite smooth is the conflicts that can occur between the separate systems. If you were to have a large number of contacts and there were a number of conflicts in terms of contact information, you would have to go through each conflict separately to resolve them; I believe this is a slight design overlook.
Once the Gmail sync plug-in is more developed this will be a very nice feature to have I believe.
Use of the calendar sync works quite well and there is also a neat feature that grabs events in your Google Calendar and adds them to your VUFONE calendar; any event in your VUFONE calendar will be synced to your Google Calendar in an effortless manner.
You are able to turn off automatic sync on multimedia files, which is quite nice because it will allow you to just push them to the web when it’s required. I think this is nice because multimedia files tend to be larger. This is something to really look at if you have expensive data plans and if Wi-Fi is not an option. You are able to configure the storage folder also which means you are able to send the files from the default location they are in. In a similar fashion, you can download files from VUFONE.
There are also plug-in for Facebook, Flickr, and Picasa that allow you to automatically push images to these sites and also download from them. On VUFONE web, there are icons that indicate whether or not these files are on your mobile device.
All SMS messages are synced to VUFONE and restoring these messages is very easy and reliable. When Compared to Nokia Backup option through PC suite, you will find that VUFONES message archiving is simply the best option around. You can view all the messages on the web also.
