To install you simply visit the Ovi store, pick the version that works for your phone and open the download link that is sent to your mobile device.
The general idea of Starts with WordSearch is simple, the program is a crossword puzzle game where you try to find the twenty different words that are hidden within the puzzle and there are 20 different categories of puzzles to choose from. The time clock once you start playing measures how long it takes you to find all the hidden words and influences your score.
There are three different difficult classes that make finding words more difficult. For instance, if you are using the hard difficulty, words will be able to be formed in the regular fashion plus also backwards, left to right and right to left diagonally across the board. In the easier difficulties words are simply found arranged either top to bottom or left to right.
The sizes of the word puzzles can be small, medium or large. Depending on your display size, certain sizes of puzzles can be hard to use on some mobile devices.
If you think you have spotted a word all you need to do is move the D-Pad left or right for each letter that the word contains.
There are also statistics that give you feedback on how you are doing and allow you to see your progress as you play more. With Starts with WordSearch you play against yourself; trying to beat your previous times and scores.
Using the application is a little counterintuitive due to the fact you don’t press any buttons when you go to the next letter in a word. Instead you just scroll along the word with the D-Pad until the word is complete. You have no computer aid to help you in finding words with this application.
A weakness in this application that I found was that if I pressed two letters one after another, you could not go back. This means you have to restart the application in order to be able to play. There should be an option, I believe to allow you to undo a mistake to allow you the ability to complete a game.
This is an engaging game that actually helps improve your vocabulary. This game is free from the Ovi Store and is used to try and entice you to buy a premium version of this game such as ZingMagic 's Word Search Nature or Word Search Geography.
Games at the Ovi store tend to be in the price range of $3-$5 and even those this application is free because of the shortcomings I mentioned I have given it a rating of 3 out of 5.
