Tagggit is an application that allows you to interface with the website http://www.tagggit.com and make social posts to the networks location based services. Keep reading to learn more...

To give this application a shot, I installed it on a Nokia E71 which is a S60 3rd generation device. The installation has some requirements and is a bit more involved, so be prepared for a bit of a hassle when it comes to installation.

Installation
Rating Average

The installation package for Tagggit comes with four files that are required to be installed. You must install these files in a specific order due to dependency issues through the Nokia application installer. Other applications can install all these files together, so Tagggit should as well in order to create an easier time for the user.

Install the files below in the specified order:

1. Symbian O.S PIPS Version 1.02 (Nokia)

2. Open C LIBSSL Common Version 1.00 (Nokia)

3. Open C GL Library (Nokia)

4. Tagggit software

Know Your Application
Rating Excellent

As soon as you start the application it immediately begins to harness in your location using the built in GPS of your phone to find your GPS coordinates. This takes roughly three seconds.

Once you have your GPS coordinates it will become possible to tag a location by pressing the big “+” icon. When you are tagging something, you enter a description and can add a photo if you would like to do so before you send your message. I would suggest trying to use a format that will allow it to be searched appropriately. For instance, if you were to just put “Ice Cream Shoppe” you would have a large number of results; instead put at least the cities name in the tag to narrow results.

The location that a user tags is then linked to Google Maps by Tagggit application. By having this feature Tagggit became an extremely useful application as using any results for specific tags on the website you could find locations and corresponding directions quite easily. To access Google Maps Tagggit makes use of 3G/WLAN network connections.

Tags are also synced to user’s account on the website. You can make tags private, shared or just share with your friends. You may add friends on the Tagggit website.

Handling
Rating Excellent

Using Tagggit is quite simple and since you don’t have to configure your GPS to work by yourself that’s a huge plus.

Weaknesses
Rating Good

I think Tagggit should be integrated with Nokia Maps instead of Google Maps to allow you to get turn by turn navigation.

A feature like Twitter’s tweet follow would also be neat so tags could be followed like tweets.

Conclusion
Rating Good

Tagggit is a unique application that created a new form of social networking for us to all follow. It’s a simple application to use that could potentially become very popular. As people use Tagggit more often it will become more useful. I rate it 4 out of 5.
