Overview
Phone Wallet is a data protection tool that allows you to safeguard all private information stored on your Symbian device like passwords, bank account numbers, credit card numbers and much more. It even allows you to synchronize this private information with a desktop computer so that you can access it from there. The 256-bit advanced data encryption provides complete peace of mind, ensuring that your private information won’t be accessed by an unauthorized person even if your phone was lost or stolen.
The program also comes with an auto-lock feature that automatically locks the phone when it's not used for some time and then can only be opened by providing the respective password. The user interface is not only easy to handle but also has a pleasing graphical look with the use of colorful icons. Also, it is highly flexible and customizable, allowing you to tune the application in any way you would like.
Phone Wallet is developed by Symbian Guru and can be purchased from their website for just $9.99. If you want to test the app before buying the full version, you can download a trial version available on the products description page.
The program is compatible with all Smartphones operating on Symbian S60 3rd edition platform and readers are advised to check their device compatibility before buying the app.
Examining Phone Wallet App
I installed the application on my device by using Nokia PC Suite and then opened it by going to my phone’s Main Menu → Phone Wallet which further directed me to its main screen where I was asked to provide a new password that would protect my data from unauthorized access.
After I had done that, I was guided to a new screen that displayed a list of all the predefined folders where I could store respective information. I selected an appropriate folder and then pressed the ‘Options’ button to accessing the options menu. I could create a new folder by selecting the ‘New’ option and was able to change the folder’s name and icon by pressing the ‘Customize’ button.
After creating and naming a new folder, I was able to add a new record to the created folder by going to → Options → New → Record. You can select any record type depending upon the data you are handling from the given list like Default, Address, Agreements, Bank Account, Calling Card and much more.
After doing this, I could add any field like Text, Number, Date and Time for entering information. Any item can be removed from the list by pressing the ‘Delete’ button and then it can be moved from one folder to another by selecting the ‘Move to folder’ button.
The other options in this list include Help, About and Exit.
Next I selected the ‘Settings’ tab that allowed me to configure all the options to tune the app according to my convenience. I could easily change my password anytime by going to the ‘Settings’ menu and selecting the ‘change password’ option. Here I was also able to select the icon size and layout. Enabling the auto-lock option allowed me to lock the application after a set time which can be easily configured from this button.
Finally, the ‘Lock in background’ option allowed me to auto-lock the app after a given time when it was in background mode.
Final Verdict
As a mobile phone enthusiast, I have experienced and reviewed a lot of wallet apps but Symbian Guru’s Phone Wallet beats all its competitors by being a highly secure and the most flexible data protection tool.
The app turned out to be a treat for the eyes, thanks to its beautiful and colorful display, while the user interface is highly customizable, allowing you to tune the app according to your convenience.
The app allowed me to easily store and safeguard my mail passwords, internet logins, contact information, business and financial data, credit card numbers, bank account details and much more.
Also, I think the price is quite reasonable at $9.99, considering the flexibility and ultimate security offered by the app.
Overall, Phone Wallet is the best data protection tool for that Symbian Platform that money can buy and I highly recommend it to all my users who are always concerned about losing their private and confidential information to people who might use it illegally for their own gains.
