GreenCharger is an energy saving utility designed for the Symbian S60 mobile devices. The goal is to help save the natural resources of our planet and stop global warming. GreenCharger allows you to play your part in saving electricity by letting a user know when their phone is fully overcharged and to not allow it to continue to charge.

If a phone is completely charged, the user will be notified via a sound and message that the mobile phone is fully recharged and should be disconnected

If a phone is being charged GreenCharger will also display an icon in the top right corner within the display. There is a variety of information that is also displayed on the screen such as the stand by time, talk time, and the battery charge status.

Besides being an application to consciously remind a user to make their green contributions, it also has some knowledge to give regarding wasting electricity and tips to save your mobile device battery. Every mobile user shouldapply these ideas and tips to see dramatic results in saving natural resources and slowing down global warming.

To use the application you simply install it and let it run. It will manage some aspects in the background. However, to view the facts you will need to use the application itself. It is very easy to use.

Despite the good intentions of this application, it essentially is not up to the application how a mobile device user will act in accordance to helping save resources and stopping global warming. It does not stop the charge from coming to the phone if it’s plugged in, and that’s no fault of the application, but rather hardware dependency issues. This is a novel idea; however, it’s merely a suggestions program.

GreenCharger is available for S60 devices on the Ovi store for around $5. You can use this application in a way to help you become more socially conscious about wasting electricity. It also gives you some tips in how you can be part of the solution to stopping global warming. I will rate this application 4 out of 5.
