Use these helpful tips and shortcuts to gain better control over your Nokia E71 Smartphone.

Introduction

If you own or are planning to purchase the Nokia E71 and plan to get a lot of work done, the tips and shortcuts mentioned in this article will help you get more productive. Email shortcuts, browsing shortcuts and system shortcuts are covered. Some of the tips are also universal to all Series 60 3rd edition phones.

Tips and Shortcuts

1. If you want to mute a call in the middle of a conversation, just press the button in the middle of the two volume buttons on the right side of your phone.

2. View the time and date even when your phone is locked by pressing the Navi button.

3. Text to speech for your messages - Hold down the left softkey when your phone is in standby mode to hear all your new text messages with the built in text to speech converter.

4. To emulate the use of a delete button while typing on the phone hold Shift + Backspace together.

5. To copy and paste the shortut is Fn + Ctrl + C and Fn + Ctrl + P respectively.

6. To zoom into a picture while viewing it in the gallery - hold down Fn + 7, pressing this combination again will open the image in full screen mode.

7. In the standby mode - holding down * will activate or deactivate bluetooth, holding down 0 will start up the built in web browser.

8. To open up the predictive text options while typing a message hold down Fn + Spacebar.

9. Web browser shortcuts -

  • Hitting the backspace key when a web page is open will close it.
  • The 0 button takes you to the home page.
  • Use buttons 2 and 3 to move backward and forward.
  • The * and # buttons allow you to zoom in or out respectively.
  • To navigate to a new page while another page is open, press the 9 button. You can now enter the URL of a new web address.
  • The 1 button opens up the bookmarks menu.
  • Button 5 will place all open windows into tabs, this is useful when you want to open a specific page from multiple open web pages.
