If you love the look and feel of the Apple Mac OSX operating system and you'd like to see that type of interface of your Palm Pre or similar WebOS Smartphone, this theme is a great way to achieve that look while keeping your phones functionality in place.

Introduction To WebOS Themes

If you haven't "themed" your WebOS phone at this point, but you're sick of staring at the "same old screens" everytime you boot up your smartphone, then now is as good a time as any to get started. The Mac OSX theme will make your Palm Pre "pretend" to be a Mac OSX system with a dash of iPhone thrown in to provide a familiar Apple interface that's fun to use.

Using this theme won't change any of your phones capabilities, but rather will provide a new look and feel to your phones OS. Below I've included an explanation about some of the new additions this WebOS theme will provide with some screenshots to show off the new look.

Overall Theme Use
Rating Good

After installing my new Mac OSX theme the first aspect I noticed was the nice new output for the home screen. The bottom icons that are found on the Palm Pre are replaced with the Apple Doc you would find on your computer if you were using Mac OSX.

I really appreciated the standard Mac background, along with the fact that the dock section didn't take up any more space than the standard WebOS shortcuts, while offering a nice new look.

The next section of the theme is the dialer area. In this area not much has changed from the original, other than a new color scheme which adds a darker tone to the dialer and brighter button options. I often get board of the standard grey/black/white color scheme of the WebOS, so while no new functionality is added, the screen looks better.

My favorite aspect of this theme however is the new skin found on the music library. With the dark display and the apple icon in the background along with bold icons that pop out of the screen I found using the built-in media player to be a nicer, more modern experience.

Conclusion

I wrote this article on my MacBook Pro so I have a pretty good understanding of the "look and feel" associated with the Mac OSX system and the look provided by this theme is in the exact same nature of the Mac version.

The theme can be downloaded for free at PreCentral and is worth a quick download if you simply want a new look and feel to your device, but don't require any type of new functionality.

Overall a great theme to play around with if you love your Mac and want to take it on the go with you.
