P2Dialer provides a simple interface where users can choose to send an SMS from their address book or keypad, or send a phone number using the same options. The program utilizes the same grey backgrounds and large finger friendly icons and setup found on my popular WebOS applications released since the Palm Pre launched. Users can even "Shake" their phone to return back to the previous screen they were using.
Here's our review and screenshot for the WebOS app.
The main screen for P2Dialer couldn't be any more simple to use than it is. On the main screen users first choose from the SMS or Calling Screen options, they then choose whether to use their address book to find a contact or the phones on screen keypad to dial a number. The icons are all large for finger friendly pressing and simple to navigate.
After first choosing the keypad option I was happy to see a standad dialer with large buttons that each took up a proportional part of the screen and were large enough for simple dialing, followed by a large call button that was very large for unmistakeable dialing.
Choosing the address book function brought up the standard WebOS address book, once in a contact number I could then choose which one of their numbers I wanted to use for my SMS or Number Dialing. This is a great option to have since Google Voice handles SMS and regular phone calls so I could choose a cell if I wanted to send an SMS and a business or home line if I was just placing a call.
P2Dialer is a very simple application to use, just have your Google Voice options setup and then use the dialer to quickly find contacts for calling and text messaging or use the keypad and dial any number of your choosing.
As the developer says, there are other Google Voice apps available for the WebOS platform, but none are as simple or as lightweight as P2Dialer.
The program is also free from the WebOS repository at PreCentral. I highly recommend Google Voice users looking to save money on certain calls or looking to send free SMS check out this homebrew application for its simplistic, yet very useful function.
