Aliph Jawbone Prime Review
The Aliph Jawbone was one of the most stylish Bluetooth headsets at launch. Aliph followed on with the Jawbone 2 which again was a style statement.
Now it has launched two Jawbone models: the Aliph Jawbone Icon and the Jawbone Prime. The Aliph Jawbone Icon is the best Aliph headset ever while the Jawbone Prime is a cheaper alternative which is also quite high on the style quotient. The Jawbone Prime also has a lot of features and provides excellent audio quality.

Like the original Jawbone and the Jawbone 2, the Jawbone Prime has a really stylish design and a very compact form factor. It has dimensions of 53.6 x 14.1 x 24.0 mm and weighs only around 11 gms. It has an elegant design with a diamond encrusted pattern. The Jawbone Prime comes in 7 colors, each of which look extremely stylish.
It has an ergonomic design and is comfortable to wear. It has a hidden multifunction button and the Noise Assassin button / volume button on the front. To change the volume, you need to cycle through different levels. You won't need to do it much though, as the Jawbone Prime has automatic volume adjustment. On the other side, you will find the rubber covered earbud with an ear loop. The headset fits in the ear very snugly and is pretty secure. You can also use the ear hook for a more secure fit. It comes with three different ear buds so you can choose the size you like.
The Aliph Jawbone Prime comes with Noise Assassin 2.0 which amplifies your voice and suppresses out background noise to improve the sound quality. It is an improved version of the Noise Assassin technology found in the Jawbone 2. It also has Wind noise reduction.
It also has a Voice Activity Sensor which improves the call quality further by detecting vibrations as you speak. The call quality is really good even in crowded areas with a lot of background noise.
Besides that, it has all the standard features like last number redial, battery indicator, call waiting etc. It also has multipoint support which allows you to connect it to up to 2 devices.
It has Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR support and works with Bluetooth enabled phones up to a range of 33 feet. The sound quality is really improved thanks to the Noise Assassin 2.0 and the Voice Activity Sensor. It has a battery life of about 4.5 hours and a standby time of 8 days.
The Aliph Jawbone Prime was a bit costly when launched but now its price has dropped down to about $89.99. You can even find it at around $69 at some websites. It is a nice headset option if you want a stylish headset with good sound quality. I would definitely recommend it. If you cannot spend that much, try the Aliph Jawbone 2 for $49. You could also go with the Motorola H17 at $79.
