In Super KO Boxing 2 you are pitted against 12 opponents, each of them visually distinct from each other. I would have to say that the game developers have successfully created interesting set of opponents that will entice you to play again even after you have defeated all 12 opponents.
The games has three modes of play - circuit, versus and challenge. Circuit is some sort of a story mode wherein you need to win your way to the world boxing title by beating other boxers. Each of the bout in the circuit mode consists of three rounds each lasting for three minutes. Versus mode lets you fight against boxers you've previously beaten. And Challenge mode, which can be unlocked after winning the circuit mode gives you specific objectives to win a particular fight.
The game is so fun that you don't have to worry about not being able to finish all the 12 fights. As a matter of fact you can and you will in just a couple of hours. Yup, that's how easy this game is.
The game also gives you several options to set including, sound, vibration, controls, and music. The music option lets you choose to play songs in your iPod app instead of the default game sound. Sound and vibration options are pretty much self-explanatory. What's interesting to note here is the controls option. Here you can choose which type of controls you'd want to use while playing the game. It could either be touchpad with tilt, touch regions with tilt, touch regions only, or touch pad only.
If you want to get some tips on executing cool punches and powerful combos, you can check them out via the Help option on the main menu screen.
One thing that I really enjoyed while playing the game is the top-notch graphics feature. Individual fighters are well designed, each of them having distinct characteristics that distinguish one from another.
The animation is pretty cool as well. Nothing extra ordinary, just the usual 2D animation that you normally see when playing 2D arcade fighting games. Sounds effects in the game are also pretty decent, although the background music is repetitive. It's a good thing you can have the option to play your mp3 files using the iPhone's iPod app.
Super KO Boxing 2 is undoubtedly a very nice iPhone game. Fans of old-school arcade fighting games will surely love this game. However, the full version of the game is a bit expensive if you're the type of iPhone gamer who doesn't spend more than $1 for an app. The game will cost you $4.99. If you don't mind spending that much for a game, then go ahead and buy this iPhone game. You'll definitely enjoy playing it.
