iDare provides a fun distraction that cell phone games are known for, but iDare Deluxe takes it a little far.
Entering iDare
When you first open iDare you are going to first be attacked by advertisements for iDork, iBlow and other games from the developer of iDare. Once you get into the main iDare menu, you are still going to be haunted by an advertisement of iDork in the upper left hand corner. At least it is a little inventive looking. In the upper right hand corner will be an offer to upgrade to iDare Deluxe, a pay version of iDare. This advertisement will be classed up with the image of a monstrous hand. Gotta stay in the spirit. Below these two inconveniences will be the iDare title on a pencil and a button you press to start the experience.
A Fun Free iPhone Game
iDare is based on a very simple game that you may have found in the back of a camp club house or prison yard. This is where you take a knife, or screwdriver in this case, and attempt to slam it down between each finger without actually hurting your hand. iDare on your iPhone takes a unique approach to this by offering you a few different options. You are provided with the image of a hand and on one of the webs between fingers will be a green shade. You then press it to slam the screwdriver down there, which then will inspire the next in the list to have the green shade. The idea here is to slam between the selected fingers as fast as you can without hitting the hand. This will give you a higher point scale, which is then used to estimate skill. There are a few different options for this in iDare, which mainly just change the order that you go in.
Free Version for Me
iDare Deluxe is the premium version of iDare that actually does give you a whole host of other features. You get a somewhat involved Career Mode, the Quick Play mode that is pretty similar to the standard iDare gameplay, the Endurance and Time Trial to switch it up, and some other inventive features. All of these are really ornament on what is really a simple and fun game. The iDare Deluxe version is only $0.99, but I would not get it unless you really cannot get enough of iDare. Over all iDare is a fun distraction, even if it does have a lot of ads at the beginning. Six and a half out of ten stars.
