WifiPhoto is an application that allows you to transfer photos from your iPhone to your PC, using your home WiFi connection. Read on to learn more.
Introduction
WiFiPhoto allows you to access your iPhone photos from any computer by utilizing your home Wifi connection. WiFiPhoto only requires a wireless connection with a computer on the same network to function. WiFiPhoto comes in handy, when you want to transfer pictures from your iPhone or iPod Touch to a computer and can't find a USB cable to do the job. Read on to learn how WifiPhoto makes photo transfer to any computer easy and convenient.
Initial Setup
When you open the application, you'll find a settings button on the right corner. This includes the server status and server port, which allow you to establish a connection with your PC. An image quality setting allows you to reduce the quality of the transferred images. The delete photos on exit option when toggled, deletes the selected photos when the application closes. You can edit the source of your photos by using the choose photo source option. When toggled, it allows you to choose photos from a particular album. Alternatively, you can also choose photos from your camera roll.
A convenient download zip option allows you to download all your iPhone photos as a zip file from your PC.
Overview
Once you're done with the initial settings, you can choose the photos to be transferred. The photos can be added by clicking the button on the top right corner. When this is done, the dimensions and size of each picture are displayed to its right. I found this display of information very useful as I had a detailed overview of the pictures. An IP address and port number then appear on your screen as shown in the screenshot on the left. You need to type them into the address bar of your PC web browser. The pictures you selected can then be viewed on your computer and saved to your hard drive.
Conclusion
WiFiPhoto is a very useful application. Adding photos and establishing a connection to a computer was a snap. I did not experience any problems using this app. It saved me the trouble of carrying my USB cable, every time I wanted to transfer my photos to a friend's PC. At a price of $0.99 from the App Store, I think WiFiPhoto will find its place in your favorite iPhone applications list.
