Weird Laws is a free iPhone application that just gives you one strange state law after another.

Weird Laws

Did you know that in Detroit it is against the law to “ogle” at a woman when you are passing by in a car? In Waterloo, Nebraska it is illegal for all barbers to eat any onions between seven in the morning and seven in the evening. It is against a written ordinance for all men with moustaches to kiss any women in Eureka, Nevada. In all of New Jersey it is banned to even frown at a passing police officer, which has no bearing on how he or she looked at you. Weird Laws for the iPhone is remote port of those books you used to buy out of book orders in grade schools. Here is a free iPhone application that simply gives you a whole host of funny and weird laws. Though it is a modest success, Weird Laws is the kind of brief distraction that can be fun on your iPhone.

Bouncing Left and Right

Weird Laws has a very simple interface. When you open it you get a base screen that says Weird Laws and then their text in the scroll in the center. Below are arrows that go left and right, depending on which way you want to go in the series of weird laws. The laws are some you may have heard as well as others you haven’t, all at varying degrees of strangeness. Some of these are a little less than odd, but the majority remind us of the problems with the modern legislative system.

Not Bad for a Free iPhone Application

You are not going to get hours and hours of entertainment out of Weird Laws, but it is great when waiting for the dentist. There is ad support for Weird Laws, which is what allows it to remain a free iPhone application. This is never optimum, but the ad bar is at the very bottom and you do not usually hit it accidentally. Weird Laws would definitely be better if it added more diverse and interactive features. This does not necessarily take away from what it actually does bring, which can be a lot of fun. At least for a few minutes at a time. Six out of ten stars.
