Are you looking forward to downgrading your iPhone baseband? Do you really know why are you even doing this? Do you really know why there is a need to downgrade the iPhone baseband? I think you might be unaware of the reason, why you need to downgrade your iPhone baseband.

Why Should You Downgrade iPhone Baseband?

Apple has launched the new iPhone 3G and 3G S with a new baseband version to stop developers from unlocking the iPhone. Accordingly, they believe that the new baseband will NOT allow the users to upgrade their unlocked iPhones in the near future, and they are right. Since, the developers have not yet found the solution to crack this out. You will have to stick to an older version of the baseband that will allow you to unlock your iPhone for later versions of the iPhone software.

Step by Step Instructions

Below are given, step-by-step instructions on how to downgrade your iPhone 3G baseband to 2.28 using 5.8 bootloader. We will be using Fuzzyband to downgrade the baseband so that we can later unlock the iPhone using YellowSnow.

Step 1: Before you can downgrade the baseband, you must have Cydia installed on your iPhone. On the springboard, find the Cydia icon and tap it to open Cydia application.
