This article discusses five reasons that makes the iPhone 3G S a better buy over the iPhone 3G.

There are quite a few reasons to pay the extra $100 and spring for the iPhone 3G S over the iPhone 3G. You really get a lot more for your money with the 3G S. It's well worth the upgrade. If you're a new user, get the better phone with all of the new features. If you are trying to decide whether or not you should upgrade from the iPhone OG or the iPhone 3G, there are many factors that go into such a decision. But, if you do decide to upgrade, going with the newest model is always the best idea.

S Stands for Speed

The new iPhone 3G S is all about speed - in fact, that is what the "s" stands for. It features a faster processor and quite a bit more memory for loading applications and games faster. If you plan on using the iPhone for gaming, the new 3G S hardware improvements will really help things out a lot. Also, new apps that are being developed are being optimized for the iPhone 3G S, which means that they might run slower on older versions of the phone.

New Camera

The new camera on the iPhone 3G S is just amazing. It is a 3MP camera compared to a 1.3MP camera on the 3G, and it has some other exciting features. For one, the 3G S phone can record and edit video, which is great. It also has a new tap autofocus feature that allows the user to tap the spot on the picture that they want in focus, and the iPhone auto-configures the exposure and depth of field to make that happen. Perhaps it's because I love photography, but this feature alone would make it worth the upgrade to me.

Voice Control

Voice control is a highly anticipated feature on the iPhone 3G S. It allows you to speak phone and iPod commands to the phone with an advanced voice recognition system. Certainly, this is a feature that would be useful to many iPhone users.

Battery

The iPhone 3G S has a better battery life when it comes to 2G talk, Wifi internet use, and audio and video playback. A long-lasting battery is important to every cell phone user - even to those of us who have solar power chargers.

The two iPhones have the same battery life when it comes to 3G phone use and standby times (300 hours).

Internet Speed

The new iPhone 3G S features a 72mbps HSDPA connection option which allows for faster download speeds. Now, this is dependent on the network carrier's speed, so for us in the U.S., they are going to be severely limited by AT&T. You can expect only to get around 3.6mbps right now. Hopefully, this will increase as time goes on.
