Upsi Looper is a new arcade game for the iPhone / iPod Touch developed by Shen Mansell. It’s an accelerator-based game where you lasso around fruits to gain points and avoid running your line from nasty bugs.

Ring Around the Fruities

Upsi Looper IconThe game’s mechanics are simple enough to entertain. You are given a line that follows your iPhone’s / iPod Touch’s accelerator. Your main goal is to pick as many fruits as you can by driving the line through the fruits or ringing them with your lasso. Running across bugs - snails or butterflies - will kill your lasso in the game. The only way to eliminate bugs is to ring around them as well.

Throughout the game, you will be able to unlock achievements as you progress from stage to stage. Stats and high scores are also saved in your game so you can challenge yourself and friends alike to get higher points and better ranking.

Upsi Looper is a simple pick-up / casual game for all ages and rather quite addictive.

Graphics and Gameplay

The graphics of the game is old school, fun, and arcade-inspired. Simple, clean, and 16 bit-ish. You play on a green grass-like surface with a simple black line that you can lasso around items that pop up or pass through them using the accelerator driven line. The game’s audio is simple and minimal to give way for music you’re listening to. There are also obstacles - like bugs - you need to avoid to keep you from losing your life.

Ring Round The Fruities

There are three modes of gameplay - Regular, Expert and Fruit Fest. In regular game mode, the difficulty is easy enough to play. Expert game mode poses a much challenging game with more bugs and easier ways to die in the game. While the Fruit Fest game mode is an easy, relaxing, endless game of ringing fruits all around and stacking up the points.

This game is surprisingly addictive and entertaining enough for you to play and pass the time. In addition, the game has a section where you can view game achievements, stats and high scores.

If you're interested in previewing it's game play, the developer has posted an entertaining loopy video in Youtube for your viewing pleasure.
