HTC HD7 Preview

The HTC HD7 is one of the best Windows Phone 7 devices to have been announced. It sports a 1 GHz processor, 576 MB RAM and a 5 MP camera among other things. It also has a huge 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

    HTC HD7 Preview: First Look

    htc-hd7 HTC has been one of the strongest backers of the Android OS since its very inception. However, it is not completely ignoring other operating systems; recently details of a few Windows Phone 7 devices by HTC were leaked out. We already covered the HTC Touch Diamond 3 in a short preview.

    The other Windows Phone 7 device by HTC is supposed to be the HTC HD7. It was previously known as the HTC HD3, but it seems like it has been rechristened as the HTC HD7. The specifications seem very similar to the HTC EVO 4G. Judging from the leaked pics, and the specifications, it looks like a solid device for those who want a Windows Phone 7 phone.

    Design

    The HTC HD7 is quite big, owing mostly to its large 4.3 inch display. It has dimensions of 122 x 68 x 11.2 mm. The design is quite good and stylish and the build quality seems to be great. It has a 4.3 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Below the display are the three standard WP7 buttons - Back, Start and Search. There is also a kick stand on the back of the phone.

    Hardware and OS

    The HTC HD7 is quite powerful and comes with the latest in smartphone hardware. It has a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor with 576 MB RAM. It also has a 512 MB ROM and offers 8 GB of internal storage. It also offers memory expansion by way of microSD cards (up to 32 GB).

    It will run Windows Phone 7, the latest mobile OS by Microsoft. It comes with a fully revamped UI and a lot of new features. It will likely run the stock WP7 UI but HTC is also preparing a customized version of HTC Sense for WP7 phones.

    Multimedia

    The HTC HD7 comes with a 5 MP camera which can capture images at a maximum resolution of 2592 х 1944 pixels. It also sports features like autofocus and a dual LED flash and supports geo-tagging of images. It can handle 720p video recording as well.

    It can play these video formats - MP4, WMV, H.264 and H.263. It can also play audio files like MP3, WMV, WAV and eAAC+.

    Connectivity

    The HTC HD7, like the recent crop of smartphones, comes with the full range of connectivity options - GPRS, EDGE and 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP. It also offers microUSB 2.0 connectivity and comes with a GPS transceiver with A-GPS support. It will come with the new Internet Explorer mobile version, which is much better than the old one.

    Conclusion

    From the looks of it, the HTC HD7 seems to be a very good Windows Phone 7 option. Many manufacturers are planning to roll out Windows Phone 7 devices, but the HTC HD7 seems like a very compelling device. The line up looks good so far, even the LG GW910 is a great option.
