The graphics immediately had my attention on CowPotato, the game is composed of excellent 3D based shapes that rotate wonderfully around the screen as I was controlling my potato shooter. The cows themselves even have a fun cartoon look to them that makes the game "violence" less forward.
Here's a look at the main gameplay screen:
The score for the level is shown at the top of the screen, with the players remaining potatoes and missing shot remaining totals displays at the top of the gameplay screen. I also liked the aiming section which made it simple to target cows up close, yet still challenging when they were located further back on the screen.
Moving the target area was also simple by implementing the trackball on my Smartphone and then clicking on the wheel to shoot a potato from the CowPotato gun.
Once a potato was shot I really liked the "TaterCam" which followed each shot until they reached the intended target area. At first I just saw the potato air view:
As the potato reached its final destination I was then able to see the target bullseye displayed so I could tell if I was going to hit the target (signified by the cow sound) or miss it by a certain distance. Hits were then portrayed by a mooing cow noise, not by a violent hit to the cow, which makes this game slightly more kid friendly.
The cows will also fight back in their own amusing way by farting on your screen if you don't get rid of them quickly enough, this is a great way to lose your game quickly if you don't shoot off your rounds and hit cows quickly enough.
Once you finish your game the program them shows you what percentage you sit at compared to other players. For example the developer shows a high score of 77360 which would put you in the top 90% of all player scores through an online scoring panel. Simply enter in your name and a comment about your score or the game and you can choose to save your score "Online + Local" or "Local Only."
