Pebble Box uses the Google Maps API Overlay to place different markers for different types of events, locations, geo-tagged blogs, and other information in the places where they were activated. While this type of geo-tagging isn't a new mobile offering, its still an impressive way to communicate.
Where PebbleBox really shines is its ability to offer more than simple access to geo-tagged areas. For instance, a user selling T-Shirts can geo-tag their exact location and from that geo-tag users can either find that location and map the directions using Google Maps, or they can access the sellers t-shirts via their mobile connection and actually buy those t-shirts right from their devices, essentially Pebble Box offers "Social Shopping." To ensure your online PebbleBox transactions are completed without interruptions the program also uses the Google Android "Always-On Data Connection" this ensures your orders can be completed easily.
Aside from Social Commerce users can aslo read blogs from their friends list and writer their own blogs. Their blogs not only show their experiences but also the locations at which they were written, this option can make for a great "Travelling Journal" of sorts while users can also simply post their experiences and even look for new friends via the programs Mobile social network.
Users can also choose to sort different areas by different subjects, for instance you may want to access just your "Events and Venues" info or the "Housing" section of your geo-tags, this can all be done using the programs simple and intuitive user menus that require little to no instruction to learn.
My personal favorite part of PebbleBox is the fact that it looks for a "Best Connection" variable the entire time its running, thus if your 3G data connection is going to save you battery life and allow for a better connection over an Edge connection or a WiFi connection then that option will be used, this means you always have the best connection available for each type of data use.
Overall this is a great program for finding fun things to do in any area, while providing a competent social network ability and great Mobile commerce options not normally found on this type of program.
