While Google Android may be a new Mobile Operating System the Weather Channel App for the OS looks more like a seasoned veteran than a newcomer to the devices marketplace. The android Weather channel app offers what I consider to be the best Weather offerings available on a mobile device.

InterfaceRating Excellent

The Android Weather Channel App is the best looking Weather app i've seen on a mobile device. The screens come in very clear on the T-Mobile G1 device and the screens are easy to navigate. Even upon first look the screens pretty much speak for themselves, making it easy for even an app beginner to navigate the devices screens.

What I really liked however was the ability to view actual Weather Channel broadcast feeds from the device. Using either WiFi or T-Mobile Edge connectivity led to fast access to video files and the picture quality on the device was nearly flawless.

Overall a great output of data both in written and video formats.

I've included a picture of the display at the bottom of this article.

UsabilityRating Excellent

The Weather Channel App for Android doesn't only allow for a great display it also makes choosing your preferences easier than ever. Users for instance can view current conditions, hourly, 36 hour and 10 day conditions by simply choosing the tabs located on their devices screen.

The Weather Channel Application also offers the ability to view a full range of weather maps, severe weather alerts, detailed conditions including forecast conditions and as I mentioned in the interface section video forecasts which includes local weather video feeds. Using the detailed maps users can choose whether or not to display a full spectrum of details that include: layers such as radar, clouds, UV index, rainfall and snowfall, among other popular weather output features.

My favorite feature however is the "Location Based" Weather Service Alerts, with this option the device can pinpoint the users location using the devices on-board GPS receiver, or users can simply type in a zipcode, city or landmark and receive mapped conditions as well as weather alerts. Whether travelling or checking on a spouse who is travelling this is a great option to keep up on Weather where it matters to you. The Location based application also allows users to gain access to the local video forecasts I mentioned several times earlier in the review.

Overall the ability to easily navigate between local and national weather conditions while also watching local weather videos and receiving weather updates in severe conditions makes the Weather Channel App a must have for anyone who wants to easily and freely I should add, keep an eye on the conditions that matter the most to them.
