Availability and Features

It is going to be officially available starting June 6 at Sprint stores, Radio Shack and Best Buy. The pricing is most likely going to be $199 with a 2 year contract and a $100 mail in rebate. For just the phone, without any contract, the pricing is rumored to be around $549.

The Palm Pre is loaded with many new features. It is powered by the new Palm webOS which has full multitasking support, universal search, background notifications and a very intuitive user interface. It also sports a full sliding QWERTY keyboard. It has superb hardware specs and a very stylish design. It is also going to have a online application store, just like the iPhone and Android phones. It has a very powerful web browser based on Webkit and it is rumored to soon have Flash support. It also has a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack. Reportedly, it also comes with an emulator which allows you to run older Palm applications. The Palm SDK will be released soon which will allow developers to create applications for the webOS platform.
