Confession time here at Brighthub. While I love my BlackBerry Bold to pieces and have a rather unhealthy obsession with it, there are times when the device gets to me. For instance the fact that the BlackBerry chooses to turn off the radio on its own. Sure in the larger scheme of things, it’s a great option but there are times when you need to make that important call and don’t want the “ Battery too low for radio usage" option to play spoilsport.
This is where the ForceRadioOn comes to play. The application as the name suggests makes sure that the radio doesn’t turn off even if the battery is extremely low. To achieve this feat, you need to click on the application’s icon which turns the radio on. It goes without saying that the application should only be used in emergency conditions or when you are desperate to make a call.
Given that the application was just 4.8k in size it took me literally one second to download the application. When I accessed the “Downloads” folder, I was happy to see the ForceRadioOn icon.
The first thing that striked me about the application is its simplicity. There are no fancy options and the interface is completely basic. This stripped down approach actually works in the favor of ForceRadioOn as the application is suppose to be used in emergency situations.
When you open the application, you get an option, which says “ If you Battery is too low for radio usage, then click this button to turn it on.”
The button in question simply reads out “Force the Radio on!”.
My radio was already on, but I still decided to click the button. On doing this, the application switched off my radio! Then I clicked again, and my radio was on!
I must add again that I was highly impressed by the simplicity of the application and how easily it worked.
The ForceRadioOn application is available free of cost. However I must admit, even if the application carried a price tag, I would still keep it, as I found it to be extremely useful.
We all have been in a situation, where we have been frustrated by the lack of radio support during low battery situations. Thus the ForceRadioOn application is a handy little tool to have around during emergencies.
