SMSPic is a simple application that alerts BlackBerry user about incoming texts by providing pop up alerts. Hence users can quickly read and then reply to the text without navigating to the native BlackBerry messaging application. Users can also call the sender directly from the SMSPic application and users living in North America will also be privy to the caller's city name.
When opening the application, I was greeted with a blank homepage. This page was blank because I had to configure the settings according to my own needs.
I came across options for my configuration which included “New PicID, “EditPicID”, “Preferences”, “Edit Quick SMS”, “Restart”, “Delete Thumbnail Cache” and so on.
Selecting the first option, I enter a friend’s number from my Address Book and then proceeded to add a picture. I repeated this for a couple of contacts as it was very quick and easy.
Another option which I immediately made use of was the “Edit Quick SMS” where I could customize their quick replies to avoid typing every time. This option also worked liked a breeze and I was now all set to get my first pop up sms.
The application worked as advertised and I started getting sms’s in pop up style immediately from the time of setup. Every pop up sms also showed options which included “Close”, “Reply”, “Quick Reply” and two tabs for next and previous.
This means that all the possible actions are at your fingertips and you don’t need to visit the messaging application. The messages also get saved in the Inbox for future reference.
I found the application to be extremely intuitive and very quick. My Bold’s performance wasn’t affected at all as it ran as smooth as ever.
SMSPic is an application that I highly recommend if you send a lot of text messages and you want to streamline the process by removing several steps from the process.
On the whole, the app makes the entire Blackberry messaging experience a fun and completely personalized option. For $0.99, the SMSPic application is quite a steal in my opinion.
