If you love the game of Sudoku you'll enjoy SwooshSudoku, a beautifully crafted and simple to play version of the popular numbers game.

How To Play Sudoku

I thought it would be best if I started out with a simple explanation of how the game of Sudoku is played. It's actually a simple, yet a frustrating process.

The gameboard is setup with a 9 x 9 board, each puzzle starts with several numbers filled in throughout the board, in order to win you must create horizontal and vertical lines that containt each number from one to nine. However no line vertically or horizontally can containt the same number.

For example if I have a top line that runs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ,6 ,7 ,8 and then 9 from top left to top right, I couldn't have a vertical line that ran 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 1 because the One would be used twice in the same first row vertical line.

It's a little confusing but the game provides help when you start out. Let's take a look at the actual Blackberry game.

Gameplay
Rating Good

When first launching this version of Sudoku I immediately knew that the graphics would be up to par with other versions of the game currently on the market. The main menu offers bold option graphics which include 5 game modes, simple, easy, normal, hard and expert all of which are easy to see and select.

Once I actually chose my level (by the way Expert is extremely difficult), I was ready to check out the gameplay setup. I was definitely impressed with how SwooshSudoku operated. For example when working in a square simply that square is highlighted so the user can easily move around a single piece of the gameboard with either their keyboard or trackball.

I also liked that the game offered a timer, which is a great way to challenge yourself to more quickly beat levels. However my favorite option was the ability to put in "pencil" marks for possible numbers. When playing Sudoku many players like to pencil in "possible" number options for their puzzles and you can accomplish this with special marking on each page.

The game also allows users to choose various backgrounds based on included images or their own backgrounds. This is a great way to "personalize" your gameboard. The process is also simple, just choose that menu option and then find the background you want to use.

Along with choosing the background SwooshSudoku also allows users to set the "Transparency" level for their boards. If for example you want to see more of your background you can do so easily by creating more of a transparent board, while certain "bold" backgrounds may take over to much of the board which means less transparency may be a bettery option. Again this is a great way to create the best possibly customization for your own boards.

Finally the game also offers an "automatic save and resume" function which means you can start a game, easily stop and then restart that same game at any time. This is also a great option when you receive a phone call and then want to head back into your game after you get off the call. The save and resume option worked flawlessly for me on the few occasions I had to use it.

Conclusion

SwooshSudoku is a fun version of the puzzle game Sudoku. The gameplay is extremely simple to master, the game is easy to customize and the graphics are excellent for such a simple game.

SwooshSudoku is now my favorite Blackberry version of the popular numbers game, especially with thousands of puzzles to play, 5 different levels of difficulty and a cheap $4.99 price tag from the Blackberry App World.

Give this Blackberry puzzle game a try today and if you love Sudoku you won't be disappointed.
