Start Me Up is a free BlackBerry app that launches your favorite tools and apps when your phone boots! Its easy to assign an application to run when your BlackBerry loads up, making Start Me Up a potentially vital piece of software.
Automatically Start Upto 6 Applications
It's not uncommon to find yourself scrabbling through a long index of software on a BlackBerry looking for some vital piece of software to run - a task that would be lost in the past if there was a way to automatically launch it when your phone boots up.
Start Me Up allows the user to assign a choice of applications to be loaded when the BlackBerry phone is switched on.
Acting in a similar way to Start Up Items in the Windows operating systems, Start Me Up can manage the launching of up to of 6 applications.
This is a simple to use application that could be vital to people who rely on a particular piece of software being always active - such as an RSS reader or a stock market widget.
Using Start Me Up
Requiring OS 4.2 or later, Start Me Up is designed to work on any BlackBerry handset.
It's available for OTA installation from this link at mobileutil.com - there is no desktop installation possible.
Successful use of this utility requires you to have the applications you wish to add to the automatic startup items already open when you launch Start Me Up.
These can then be added one by one into as many as 6 slots, each of which will be automatically launched shortly after your BlackBerry loads up. A delay is active - by default this is 8 seconds but it can be changed as required. However reducing the 8 seconds isn't advisable as this will impact on the performance of you BlackBerry phone.

| Reliable BlackBerry Utility | Rating |
Start Me Up is a very useful app, made all the more attractive by its status as free software.
I've used it to automatically start several apps, including the Minutesaver and the Viigo RSS software which I use on a day by day basis to keep in touch with various technology news sources.
Of course there are many situations in which having a specific piece of software open when your BlackBerry launches could be useful or indeed vital, and Start Me Up fulfils the the task admirably. Through testing the software Start Me Up didn't fail to launch any of the assigned applications, making this a reliable and impressive utility.
