Generate Codes With MobileEnigma
Have you got a secret? Information to share that you don't want unauthorized eyes to see? If so, MobileEnigma is ready to solve your problem!
Available free for BlackBerry devices, MobileEnigma is a mobile cipher and deciphering machine, named after the Second World War code machine.
With both honest and nefarious possibilities, MobileEnigma is touted by its developer as a means to protect the user from identity theft. No personal or sensitive information should be transmitted via electronic means - but if you really have to then using MobileEnigma to do is the best way to protect - only the intended recipient should be able to decipher the sent message thanks to a pre-arranged shared passphrase.
Despite all this talk of "ciphers" and "passphrases", MobileEnigma is simple to use and can be downloaded and installed quickly.
Phone Requirements
You can download MobileEnigma either directly to your BlackBerry for an OTA installation or via your desktop by visiting www.mobileenigma.com.
There's no explicit information on the website to say definitively which devices and which OS version MobileEnigma works on - however given it is a standard text-entry app and there is no touchscreen interaction required, it's safe to assume that it will run on all BlackBerrys with hardware keyboards. For this review it was tested on a Pearl 8100 running OS 4.5.
Using MobileEnigma is simple - enter your intended message, enter a phrase to be used to encode the message and then paste this into an email or SMS. MobileEnigma automatically copies the ciphered message to your clipboard, which means all you need to do is paste the list of numbers - the encoded text - into a message.

| Free Secret Code Software | Rating |
Although a good piece of software that is free and easy to use, it's difficult to say exactly how MobileEnigma should be rated - an app like this should really be supplied as the norm on any mobile device.
This app also has possibilities beyond personal use. For matters of national security, it's unlikely (although not impossible) that a mobile cipher app would be utilised to pass on secret messages. For corporate users however there is scope for use - MobileEnigma sitting on one of the worlds most popular business tools (the BlackBerry) makes perfect sense.
In the end however I've rated the app 4/5 - it does the job, it's free and even if you don't have any trade secrets to protect you can still use MobileEnigma to send coded messages to loved ones.
