Although gas prices have started to drop, you still need a valuable way to keep track of mileage whether for work or pleasure. MyMileageGenie helps with this by letting you track mileage and more on your BlackBerry. Read this review to see what else the program can do for you.

MyMileageGenie is a mobile application that gives BlackBerry users the ability to track time, distance and locations automatically by using the GPS functionality of their BlackBerry devices or from the external Bluetooth GPS antenna. This will help many business people keep track of billable costs and gas reinbursements. The application has the same set up as a time tracking device, using the punch-in and punch-out method. The creators of MyMileageGenie, ConvergeWireless, had this to say:

“This is the FIRST BlackBerry application to truly automate mileage tracking and reporting in North America. The application uses autonomous GPS technology built right into the BlackBerry Smartphone. MyMileageGenie promises to simplify logging business travel (miles or kilometers) when using a personal vehicle, and eliminate having to fuss with old paper logs or spreadsheets.”

Features

MyMileageGenie has plenty to offer.

· Quick and simple operation

· The ability to create reports for tracking hours and distance travelled.

· Automatic Distance Tracking that uses the GPS function once you have “punched in”

· The ability to enter client’s entire contact information and set a currency to work with.

· Automatically email clients, employers or assistants your current location.

· Email has links to Google Maps and BlackBerry Maps

· Ability to keep watch over billing and fuel consumption

Pros

· Controls are simple to operate

· Can be set to use GPS or not

· Ability to email reports

· Ability to email current position with links to Google Maps and BlackBerry Maps.

Cons

· Doesn’t offer a solution to access existing address book or calendar

· Application more expensive than most BlackBerry programs

· The application freezes up every now and then

VerdictRating Good

In all, the MyMileageGenie is a neat little application that costs around $59.95. There is a 14-day free trial that some users may find handy. But, it may be worth the cost if you still have to keep a close watch on your fuel consumption. It also helps with billing and location information if you have to check in with your office while in the field. I’ve spoken to many traveling salespeople who, literally, can not live without the program now. It is definitely worth checking out.
