Introduction

The BlackBerry Storm 3 has had many specifications floating around the Internet for some time but most have just been mere rumors, here is what we know about the Storm 3 so far based on the alleged leaks.

The picture is is actually a picture of the BlackBerry Storm 2 as the so called leaked BlackBerry Storm 3 picture looks exactly like the Storm 2. What we are focusing on is the specifications that will outline the BlackBerry Storm 3 and these are outlined below.

The Phone (5 out of 5)

The BlackBerry Storm 3 is said to house a large 3.7 inch display and offer users a capacitive touchscreen with SurePress technology. The screen is noticeably larger than the current Storm’s 3.2 inch display. The phone has also been rumored to carry hot-spot technology, making the device an instant Wi-Fi provider for anyone in its vicinity.

The phone is also rumored to install its trademark trackpad on the bottom center of the device coupled with a few flat hardware buttons on the bottom. The Storm’s internal memory has been rumored to be almost 8 gigabytes with expandable memory of either 1 or 32 gigabytes of RAM.

The BlackBerry Storm 3 has also been slated to contain a camera, although definite figures are unsure. Most sources have the megapixel range at 5 while other state it will be at least 8. A dual LED light and flash function are also some other specifications rumored to be included on the BlackBerry Storm 3.

In terms of connectivity, the BlackBerry Storm 3 is said to include Bluetooth version 3.0 with A2DP technology, 3G network speed and Wi-Fi access. The Storm will also contain a standard Li-Ion 1200 mAh battery which provides between 432 and 480 minutes of talk time and between 9 hours on 2G speeds or 5 hours on 3G speeds on standby.

Most people believe that the operating system on the new BlackBerry Storm 3 will be unlike any BlackBerry user has experienced which leads to the idea that Research in Motion is waiting to incorporate the new QNX software in the new smartphone as reason for its long delay. Some sources have also stated that the BlackBerry Storm 3 will be RIM’s first 4G mobile phone.

Conclusion

There is still no official word on all of these specifications and many are left wondering whether this device is actually a coming soon BlackBerry phone or a horrible prank started on the Internet by an irresponsible blogger. No official word or documentation from RIM has been released since the beginning of the BlackBerry Storm 3 debate. The only shred of evidence people are clinging to is a single “picture” of the up and coming mobile phone. Some say it is an elaborate hoax by a great Photoshop addict, others claim it is the elusive BlackBerry Storm 3 caught in the wild. The world may never know.

The BlackBerry Storm 3 is rumored to be released in late 2010 and as the months tick by many people are wondering how late is late? Some say it will be released in early 2011 and some say it does not exist. The question still remains: Is the Storm 3 an actual phone waiting to be released into the laps of BlackBerry’s many adoring fans, or just something made up by an avid blogger who’s sitting behind his computer giggling away at the mob of crazy BlackBerry fans claiming its authenticity? It is still too early to really tell if RIM has and is working on a third Storm. Nevertheless, the rumors are buzzing. If the BlackBerry Storm 3 is real then it will surely bring success back to the RIM brand.
