Choose The Right Bluetooth Headset For Your Blackberry

There are several different Bluetooth handsfree headsets available for BlackBerry users, each with different quality of sound, functionality and price.

Life And Death Decision

When making a purchase on something as vital as a handsfree kit for your Bluetooth, it's important to make the right choices. If you're often receiving calls while on the road, then getting the right headset could literally be a matter of life and death.

You could easily spend $20 on a quick purchase, keep the rest of your money in your wallet for a few meals or Blu-Ray discs - but it's better to research the possibilities and make an informed choice based on functionality and usability, sound quality and finally price.

Below are three different Bluetooth headsets for use with BlackBerry smartphones, priced from under $20 to $125.

Jabra BT2040 Bluetooth HeadsetRating Good

Jabra Bluetooth HeadsetThe Jabra BT2040 Bluetooth Headset is available for as little as $19 (£12) and is an excellent, low-cost option. With 8 hours talk time and upto 6 months standby, the Jabra headset has various functions that depend on the device it is connected to, including call reject, voice dial, last number redial, call waiting and hold.

The Jabra headset has a range of up to 10 meters (approx. 33 feet), and never needs charging - it runs on a single AAAA battery which is included along with the ear clip.

Motorola H375 Bluetooth HeadsetRating Average

Motorola BT HeadsetFrom Motorola, the H375 Bluetooth headset looks best in black and is a rechargable device that offers up to 6 hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time.

With a 10m operating range it has the basic volume control and dual purpose answer/end call features. It's rechargeable and comes with mains charger included in the price. Available for around $55 (£34) it is a solid mid-price option with good sound quality.

Aliph Jawbone BluetoothRating Average

Aliph Jawbone BluetoothThe most recent version of the distinctive Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth headset comes equipped with "NoiseAssassin" technology - basically this means that it can distinguish and eliminate real world background noise from your own voice.

With hidden buttons and an ergonomic design with leather-covered ear loop, the Aliph Jawbone can only manage around 4 hours of talk time and struggles to reach the advertised 8 days of standby time.

It isn't cheap either - it can be picked up for £125 (£75) which is quite reasonable for the hi tech background noise reduction.

Information Is Power

While neither of these three options is perfect, it does seem as though the Jabra BT2040 Bluetooth Headset is the best option in terms of functionality, talk time and of course price.

Whatever the Bluetooth headset you end up choosing for use with your BlackBerry device, do make sure that you know everything there is to know about it. Information is power and it will give you the power to make the right purchase for you, your budget and your BlackBerry smartphone.

BlackBerry Bluetooth Headset
Great post, they are all great choices. I'm a big fan of the Jawbone. The new "Jawbone Prime" looks great. I would recommend the official blackberry headset too

as this has a miniUSB charging socket, so most Blackberry users will only need to carry one type of charger to charger their BlackBerry and Headset.

However most new Blackberrys (8900 curve and Storm) charge using microUSB, so I would recommend some of the new Plantronics Models (as they charge via MicroUSB)

e.g.
The Plantronics 925 -

Also the Jabra BT530 charge using Micro-USB and has "jawbone-esque" noise reduction features:

We also offer some charging tips that convert MiniUSB connectors to other styles, which would be useful, allowing users to charge another connector with a MiniUSB

making it less cumbersome than carrying separate mains and car chargers for your headset.
