How it Works, Installation and Main Features

Taking a screenshot of your device can sometimes come quite handy. You can save a financial calculation that you want to keep safe for future viewing or save a system setting that might come handy when you reconfigure your device or an IP address that you think will slip your mind. You can also capture a screenshot on your desktop PC by simply pressing Fn and prt sc and then copy and save it in the paint shop. But the question is, can you take screenshots on your Blackberry Smartphones? The answer to this question is a very simple and small application called SnapScreen.

SnapScreen enables you to take a screenshot of your Blackberry device and lets you save this image on your phone or on its storage card. This application is also small enough in size that it will hardly place any load on your phone's memory. It even supports file formats such as PNG, JPG and BMP. You can see the preview of the image you want to save and also select the file format in which you want to save this file.

It offers several ways to take a screenshot and you can select any method according to your requirement.

You can either assign a convenience key so that pressing it captures an immediate screenshot or you can use the Alt-Escape switcher to open the application. Once installed, SnapScreen is also associated with every menu option system wide so that you can easily access the program.

SnapScreen can be bought from the Virtual Views website for $7.99. A Trial version is also available that offers full use for 3 days or a total of 30 screenshots. After the trial period expires, you will have to buy the activation key to keep using the Blackberry program.

Installation was easy and I was given the option to select either my storage card or phone’s memory to create a SnapScreen folder where all the screenshots will be saved. I recommend that you select the storage card option in order to save your phone memory for running other applications.

Initially I used the Blackberry application switcher to open the application and capture a screenshot and then I used the convenience key option for taking a screenshot and saved this image in the SnapScreen folder. Before saving my file, I opted to watch the preview of the image I wanted to save which was surrounded by a thin red outline with white and blue border. Using the application was a piece of cake and I was easily able to save any screenshot I wanted. I tried doing this several times and each time it became more easy to use.

Finally, I must add that this application is compatible with all Blackberry models running on operating system 4.2.2 or higher so more than likely your device will be supported.

Final Verdict

If you want to take a quick screenshot while you are on the move this application is a must-have and is highly recommended. It is easy to use and does not occupy much space on your storage card or phones memory.
