In my previous article, I had described various methods to free up device memory on your Blackberry Smartphone. Read on to find more helpful memory management tips for your Blackberry devices.
Step 1 : Clean up your Blackberry temporary memory - You may know that your browser stores a lot of temporary files as you surf in its cache to optimize frequently visited sites. You can periodically cleanse this data to save up some device memory. Content heavy sites usually occupy a large size in the browsers cache. To delete files from your browser cache, launch the browser application and select the Blackberry menu key. Now navigate to Options and go to Cache Options. From here you can clear out your cookies, erase your browsers temporary cache and also remove data that has been pushed. Clicking on the clear button will erase the article. Once you select this option a popup appears informing you that it is clearing the memory. When this closes, it indicates that your cache is cleared.
Step 2 : Cleanse your Blackberry Logs - Blackberry Smartphones maintain a log of all recent processes. This is to be used only to diagnose a problem that you are facing or for system optimization. This is not required for day to day usage of your phone. Clearing these logs will help increase your device memory by a small amount which may help your system performance. To go to this log, navigate to your home screen and while keeping your Alt Key pressed and type LGLG. To erase the events select an event and select the Clear Log option. You will see a dialog box asking to confirm if you want to clear the log. Confirm the onscreen popup to clear the log.
Step 3 : Delete unwanted Blackberry media files - Remove all the default files supplied with your Blackberry phone which are supplied on your device memory. Consider moving these to your external memory card. Also delete files that you don't use frequently. Delete the files using the Blackberry Desktop Manager software on your PC or directly from your phone. Some files with special permissions can not be deleted directly from your phone.
