Can I Play Music From My BlackBerry In My Car?

Many BlackBerry users ask this question and the simple answer is yes. You can play BlackBerry MP3s on car stereo speakers with a simple, affordable adapter. No major installation or configurations are necessary.

Yes, You Can

The BlackBerry mobile platform is more than just a mobile phone and more than just a great way to stay organized. The BlackBerry mobile platform is also an awesome media device able to hold a vast library of your favorite mp3 music to keep you entertained for hours on end. If you are like many other BlackBerry users, you have probably already downloaded tons of music on your BlackBerry and, while you are able to enjoy them through your BlackBerry speakers or headphones, you probably desire to also listen to your music playlists while in your car. With today’s technology, this is entirely possible and it’s not complicated at all to set up.

Does Your Car Have A Cassette Tape Deck?

If your car is an older model vehicle that is equipped with a tape deck, then you can listen to music from your BlackBerry playlist by simply using a cassette adapter. This type of adapter connects to your BlackBerry device on one end and looks like a cassette tape on the other end. The cassette side easily slides into the tape deck in your car and, by setting your car stereo to auxiliary mode, you are able to play your mp3 music over your car stereo.

No Cassette Tape Deck? Read On:

However, most car manufacturers are now realizing that people don’t buy cassettes or even music CD’s like they used to. Due to most music being available in mp3 formats downloadable from many music retail and peer sites, most people now purchase, share and listen to music on mp3 players similar to and including the BlackBerry media device. Because of this trend, car manufacturers have made listening to music much more enjoyable by allowing you to play your blackberry mp3s on car stereo speakers by providing special jacks to plug adapters for these devices into. Depending on your BlackBerry device, you may need a 2.5 or a 3.5 adapter, both of which are sold regularly at electronic chains like Radio Shack or Best Buy and can even be found at local Wal-Mart department stores.

Like Your BlackBerry, Your Music Goes Everywhere You Do

The bottom line is that your BlackBerry pretty much goes everywhere that you do and now your music library can too. There’s really no need to invest in or carry additional mp3 players as the music you love can be downloaded to either your BlackBerry mobile device directly on your handheld or on your phone’s memory card (which is most recommended).

Pretty Useless Guide
Most people here are going to want to know how to play songs on a radio that DOES NOT have a 3.5mm jack and DOES NOT have a cassette player. You know.. like almost all radios in cars from the early to mid 2000s. I have a 2006 honda that has a CD player but no jack. Seems like there might be an FM adapter which I will search for.

blackberry playing in car
if you get to the playlist in your blackberry, start playing a song then press the blackberry button which opens the list, then click activate your (car) button, it then plays wirelessly through speakers

Ipod Car Charger?
I Have A Car Charger For My Ipod, But The Plug Fits Into My Blackberry Curve. Can That Still Work? I Could Listen To My Ipod Through Headphones While It Was Plugged In, But I Never Tried Car Speakers. And I Just Recently Got My Curve.
Help?

Why can't I use the BlueTooth handsfree for MP3 playback?
My car has BlueTooth connectivity, and I seamlessly integragted my BlackBerry Bold 9700 with the car in seconds, phone calls are automatically routed to the car audio. But, I can't see any way to get the BlackBerry to play audio through the car as though it were a BlueTooth headset... is this possible?

skipped all the important parts
you mentioned how to deal with cassette decks which most people don't have anymore.

new cars may not have cd's anymore but most used cars still do, and most of those don't have an aux in jack, so you went from the obsolescent (cassettes) straight to the brand new. you skipped all of us who have cd/stereos and no aux in jack, the people who wouldn't be able to figure out how to connect their bb's easily without going online.

disagree with Billy with my curve its easy
this article was helpful, I jsut went to Fry's the electronic store and got a 3.5 inch for my bb curve, and my camry 2007 has a built in jack, the music quality was awesome, and it was so easy to plug in and out with the belkin adapter for just $8.99 a piece.

Not always so easy
Just plugging in a 2.5 or 3.5mm stereo adapter into a Blackberry doesn't always work. My 8830 takes a "special" 2.5mm adapter and then it still won't play in the car through the aux in. The BB doesn't have a big enough powered port so no music is heard on the speakers. Many other BBs have this problem too. Just do a Google search and you'll find out all the problems that others are having. I'm considering getting the BlackBerry Remote Stereo Bluetooth Gateway and wiring it into my car.
