We hate to shatter the myth that there's an actual competitor to BlackBerry on the smartphone market, but since so many have asked, it's time to put the rumors to rest. The other guys are cute, trendy & kids love them, but BlackBerry is still the #1, most trusted name by real smartphone enthusiasts.
There are a lot of articles out there comparing and contrasting the iPhone to the BlackBerry mobile platform. While I personally think that the iPhone is also a sweet little device, there’s no question in my mind that for grown ups who like fun phones, but still have real lives and real business needs, there’s really no comparison between BlackBerry and the iPhone. Yet, since BlackBerry seeks to stomp out any and all attempts at competition, they’ve created phones that do things we’re not used to BlackBerries doing. I’m referring, of course, to the new touch screen phones such as the much-anticipated BlackBerry Storm.
My approach to the whole compare and contrast theme is a little different here. If you want an iPhone, go get one. I’m not here to try to convince you that the BlackBerry is a superior mobile platform. Nor will I give you reasons why you shouldn’t invest in an iPhone. Truth is, if you don’t already know that the BlackBerry is a superior device for business and pleasure, then the iPhone probably is the best phone for you. Seriously. If you’ve been around the mobile block for any amount of time, there are certain things you should already know.
That said, I will spend the next few paragraphs telling you just a few of the great things that you can do when you’re ready for a real sense of adventure and aren’t afraid to get your feet wet with the powerful Storm.
The Storm has a 3D touch screen with the best resolution on the market (480×360). Compared to the other guys, well…there is no comparison. Add this to the fact that the Storm allows you to “click-through” when you touch (no room for accidentally touching the key right next to your intended one and you spend less time correcting errors); the Storm also allows you to either use a QWERTY keyboard or the BlackBerry “sure-type” technology.
You can copy and paste on the Storm. Why the other guys don’t let you do this is beyond me. Perhaps they don’t think that kids really need to copy and paste information…I mean, after all, the biggest interest in the other phone is a touch-screen, the Internet, games and maybe watching a cool video. But BlackBerry users are thankful that they can do all this on their phones and still use BlackBerry for professional compositions and correspondence where they find being able to copy and paste information to be an enormous time-saver.
The Storm has a 3.2 mega-pixel camera. Enough said.
While these are just a few of the reasons that the BlackBerry annihilates any other smartphone on the market, more reasons abound. Check it out for yourself and do a side-by-side comparison if you don’t believe me. It doesn’t take much to find out why the other guys want to copy BlackBerry, nor does it take much for the savvy user to know why real gadget enthusiasts always bet on RIM.
