When purchasing a Blackberry, a carrier will give you an unlock code. You may need some help on how to actually unlock the phone or where to put in the code. This article tells you how to unlock some Blackberry devices.

There may come a time where you will need to unlock a Blackberry phone. An unlock code can be provided by your provider either free or for a fee. This is a pain for people who purchased a used device and just want it unlocked so that they aren’t tied to the same carrier that the phone was locked by. After buying an unlock code, they probably are unclear on how to actually unlock the phone or where they need to input the code. Buying unlocked phones from vendors such as Best Buy is usually three times the amount of phones purchased from a network. That is why this article is available.

Before starting, you may need your IMEI number. To find this number, navigate to Options and then click on Status. Write this number down before starting with this procedure. Follow the directions for the type of Blackberry that you currently have.
