About Me

I wasn't born a geek, I became one. As a kid I used to play both with dolls and punched cards (one of my parents was in IT at the time) but this didn't make me like computers. However, when I later discovered PCs on my own, they became the love of my life.

IT is my main interest but I also like listening to music or going out with friends. I have been doing my best to learn how to communicate with non-geeks and from time to time I do show some improvement in that area.

Languages (both computer and human) are also something I like a lot. I also read a lot about healthy way of life but I can't say that the lifestyle I lead is the healthiest.

My Awards & Certifications

I have a couple of degrees – one IT-related, one business-related and one in Journalism. There are also tons of certifications, mainly Linux and CISCO, I plan to take some day but let's see when my schedule will permit to do it.

My Experience

Over 10 years of experience in IT, mainly software development. I have been a full-time freelancer for the past 5 years. Freelancing gives freedom but it is not for everybody. However, for me it works like a charm and I was proud to discover that I am a much better manager than almost all the managers I had had while I was working for various IT and non-IT companies as a full-time or part-time employee.

As a freelancer I have had thousands of projects in various IT areas and I have written gigabytes of content for various sites and IT publications. I have written manuals, white papers, specifications, etc. From time to time I take some design and programming projects but these areas are hardly the areas where I am really outstanding. I am also a web master and system administrator.

In my previous life I worked shortly in marketing and other purely business (i.e. non-IT) areas and fortunately or unfortunately my marketing/business background is not completely erased.
