Father of three, husband of one, teacher of high school, writer of articles, and lover of parallel structure, Trent Lorcher shares his love and knowledge of teaching on the web's best site, brighthub.com.
After being forced to stand in front of the class and repeat, "I will not talk in study hall," 100 times while attending Norwalk High School in Norwalk, Ohio in 1986, Trent decided to write about it, beginning a frivolous hobby he continues to enjoy.
He became a paid freelance writer at the tender age of 38, after failing at a side career in sales. He currently teaches English at Foothill High School in Henderson, NV. after 11 years at Chaparral High School in Las Vegas.
When questioned about how Nevada's low education ranking affects student morale, Lorcher responds, "It's OK. We're 49 out of 50, which means our students think there are about 112 states. They think we're in the top half!"
When not in the classroom, Trent enjoys sports and his family, not necessarily in that order.
He served a two year mission in Italy for his church from 2002-04. He graduated from UNLV with a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Literature (equivalent to an associates degree at a respectable institution).
Because he was a tub o' lard in high school, Trent overcompensates by lifting weights and running 6 days a week. When asked why he runs, Lorcher answers, "There's nothing like the feeling that your feet might fall off with the very next step."
Although he enjoys teaching, Trent plans on retiring soon and living the rest of his life with his family in Hawaii.
He loves his children (which I suppose is normal): Savannah, 7; Trenton, 4; and Mazie, 1 and is looking forward to making more in the near future (like tonight!).
His wife is smoking hot! I don't know what she was thinking when she married him.
