Seabrook, Texas, a waterside suburb of Houston, is my home, where I live with my husband and three beloved kitties. I have a Bachelor of Journalism as well as Master of Arts in Germanic Studies. In 2005, I opened Transcend Tutoring and Educational Services, which provides in-home tutoring in language arts and mathematics to students in the southeast Houston area. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy doing editing and freelance writing work. And when I am not tutoring or writing, I enjoy pilates, reading, being outdoors, and travel, but I also relish being at home.
Bachelor of Journalism - University of Missouri at Columbia
Master of Arts in Germanic studies - University of Texas - Austin
As it relates to language and culture, I have foreign language teaching experience in public schools, as well as at the University of Texas at Austin, where I assisted in the teaching of beginning and intermediate German. In addition, I have also been a private tutor for over three years. As an undergraduate, I studied at Saarland University in Germany for a semester and worked as an technical document translator in Aachen, Germany during the summer of 2003 while in graduate school. My current work as a tutor brings me into contact with individuals from many cultures who have moved to the Houston area in search of new opportunities. The diversity of cultures and beliefs in my little area of the world inspires me, and I am in the process of learning a new language as a result.
