Technology has always been somewhat of a passion, even though I chose not to pursue it professionally. Most of my qualifications say otherwise though, as I have followed that passion to the post graduate level.
I felt that writing was my true calling, and therefore in the span of a 3 year career, I have written freelance, been a producer with a media company and worked as a news editor with a leading local English daily.
Writing for the technology channels at Bright Hub has given me the opportunity to bring together both my strengths in one place.
Bachelor's in Computer Applications from Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research, Pune.
MS in Advanced Information Technology from International Institute of Information Technology, Pune. (Stream: Advanced Software Technologies with specialization in Grid and Distributed Computing)
I resigned as a news editor for a newspaper, where I was in charge of the children's edition, and business specials in travel and technology. I worked with the company for just over a year, and have left to start up something of my own.
My prior experience in writing is limited to a college magazine, a short stint at a media company, and various articles I have written as assignments from an agent. I don't even know where they were published as this information wasn't shared with us.
My computing experience is made up of the 5 years of formal education, where I have written many programs. During the courses, I have also had substantial project work with various companies in the city.
Other than that, I have worn many hats: as an HR trainee in ARENCO (Dubai), as a waitress in Indian Ocean Restaurant (Scunthorpe, UK), as supermarket pre-opening staff in Orange Supermarket (Dubai) and as a customer services representative in ABN Amro (Dubai). Plus, I have put together colour-boards for my mother's interior design company, and taught French for beginners in a graduate program.
