John Schultz was born in Tokyo, migrated with his family to Texas, then Austria, then back to Texas where he more or less remained until the heartbreak of college left him bereft of almost everything. He pulled himself together in New York, rising after a few years, to artistic marginality. Then ten years in business were followed by ten years in exile.Throughout these years, he picked up interests that still preoccupy him. Reading, painting, and non-profit work. He is often happy and has almost entirely stopped comparing himself to others.
