My Experience

Presently working as Sr. Faculty (equivalent to Professor) in Don Bosco Maritime Academy since August 2001. The academy is conducting a D.G. Shipping approved three year (Two years in Institute and one year onboard) course of Alternate Training Scheme for Marine Engineers. I teach two subjects namely, Marine Technology and Naval Architecture. Presently, the academy conducts custom designed value added courses for some shipping companies. I have been doing the new course designs as well as conducting these courses for shipping companies as per their requirements. I also carry out some research work on finding green energy resources for ships to reduce the greenhouse gases and in non conventional energy exploitation from oceans as well as from sun.

Being from the marine field, I understand better the harsh conditions at sea. This helps me design of the equipment for energy exploration from oceans.

I have written a book on “ Marine Engineering Knowledge” during the course of this time which is well received by Trainees as well as those appearing for Class IV part B.

During this period, I was also involved with a U.K. based marine engineers course (HND) and my suggestions for changes in their U.K. based syllabus were well received and incorporated by Parent College (Glasgow College of Nautical Sciences). I am well versed in course designing.

Worked for One and half year as faculty in MMTI, a marine training academy at Mumbai, conducting modular courses from 1999 to 2001.

18 – 20 years as Marine Engineer onboard the ships with hands on experience in the operation and maintenance of shipboard power plants, in various positions including 8 years as Chief Engineer.

12-13 years in the shore based industry being self-employed in manufacturing processes, maintenance. During this period, I was involved in first hand research work on membrane separation processes like reverse osmosis for over three years. I was involved in the design of equipment based on reverse osmosis. I had carried out experiments on equipment made by self in different applications, many of them first time.

I was project management consultant for some time and can manage any project from concept to commissioning and thereafter, operating and maintaining the same.

Presently, I am in the process of promoting a STARTUP new company in the project management consultancy.
