About Me

Ah, welcome!

My name is Matthew Smith. I also often write under the names M.S. Smith and Faceless Clock. I am a 25 year old resident of Portland and long-time geek of all sorts. I'm a huge fan of PC gaming, although I am also extremely familiar with consoles - I currently own a Nintendo DSi and an Xbox 360. And while I grew up with a joystick in one hand, the other happened to be holding a spanking new processor. As a result, I'm familiar with all sorts of computer hardware. I'm particularly good at analyizing the consumer market in search of the best hardware for the average computer buyer.

Currently, my day job takes place at Custom Decorators, an in-home design service based here in Portland which sells products across the United States and Canada. I am an editor and writer here on BrightHub, and I am also working on the start of my freelance writing career.

My blog, Smidgen PC, covers netbooks, nettops, and other small PCs.

I am available for freelance writing assignments. If you like what I've done here, or are in need of SEO-targeted articles, please contact me at smithsm1984@gmail.com

My Awards & Certifications

I attended Butler University in Indianapolis for one year before transfering to Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin. I graduated in 2007 with two degrees, one in English Literature and one in Creative Writing.

Here at Brighthub my articles are currently bringing in tens of thousands of page views every month. I've learned a lot about SEO here, and it is paying off.

I've been voted contributor of the month at Thunderbolt Games, although I no longer write for them. One article, "Keep Freeman Quiet", enjoyed its 15 seconds of fame when it was re-posted on Kotaku.

While at Beloit, my fiction published in several student publications there. I also wrote several tech-oriented articles for the Butler newspaper while I was in attendence.

My Experience

I have a degrees in English Literature and in Creative Writing, and I have been a writer for many years now. I have past experience not only in writing for technology and gaming oriented websites, but also writing marketing materials for various companies. The largest of these projects occured when I helped write new content for HP Northwest, a retirement investment company that needed to re-write its website.

I have been working with Brighthub for over a year, and I run a blog called Smidgen PC.
