About Me

I had two careers in the US:

First a Professor of Sociology and then Applied Statistics.

Second, a social science methodologist and applied statistician for fields as diverse as occupational medicine, mass transit, and crime mapping.

When I taught at State University of New York and others, I published ethnographic works in Urban Life, and social commentary in Society. When I worked in applied statistics, i was at the Occupational Health Clinic of the University of California at San Francisco, and for various agencies in the City of San Francisco. i published a number of articles on Hospital Safety in handbooks edited by William Charney

David Makofsky now teaches and studies Chinese in Beijing, at one of the great language and culture schools of China, the Central University of Minorities. If you are planning to come to Beijing, please drop me an email and we can have a meal together
