I am currently teaching English in an American-style Middle and High School, although my usual subject is mathematics, and I am also qualified to teach German. Basically, anything involving playing with words and numbers is my thing!
A native English speaker, I love learning new languages - especially those with a "different" orthography - ideally by living in the country where the target language is normally spoken. Studying a language provides a fascinating insight into the local culture. Mandarin Chinese is probably my favourite so far. To various levels of aptitude, I also speak Scots Gaelic, Japanese, Russian, Turkish, Italian, Greek and Arabic.
I believe in education for life and try to impart a love of learning and a thirst for knowledge in my students: perhaps, better said, a thirst for experience!
