Curt Smothers is a retired career Navy officer, vocational counselor, and adjunct computer applications instructor. He lives the good life with his wife and best friend of over-40 years (both the same person) in beautiful Colorado. He spends his days puttering around on his turbo-charged Power Mac computer as an on-line tutor and freelance writer.
Curt tutors history, English (grammar and composition) and Spanish for Tutor.com, a national tutoring service. When he can bear to tear himself away from his beloved Mac, he and his wife get out and about into the Colorado mountains and beyond. (Their latest trek was to Mexico's Copper Canyon.)
Before retiring, Curt spent 15 years in the California Community College system as a Vocational Education specialist and part-time computer applications instructor. Before that, Curt was a 25-year career Navy officer specializing in administration. His final seagoing post in the Navy was as Administrative Officer onboard the USS Coral Sea, an aircraft carrier that made an around-the-world cruise from San Francisco, CA, to Norfolk, VA, via the Indian Ocean, Suez Canal, Mediterranean Sea and back across the Atlantic.
Curt joined the outstanding group of Bright Hub's technical writers in March of 2009. He has contributed articles on American History, computer applications, the Spanish language and English grammar.
