I agree with most of what you wrote, however, I feel the self protection has either been updated since you reviewed it, or misunderstood the first time.

Prevx has 3 modes of self protection. By default, the middle option is chosen. This is called "standard" self protection. Prevx has a very aggressive self protection mode that is optional as a max setting, and another low setting that just protects the DB and files.

I remember reading about it on Castle Cops when they rolled it out on CSI and Edge before that site went under. It's powerful self protection, but just not compatible *enough* with other security products.

That being said, I've cleaned hundreds of machines with Prevx products, most of those machines already having popular AV products, and I've never had malware terminate a Prevx process.

I think it's misleading in your review that this is the "ugly" part of Prevx. If you want to know the ugly about Prevx, it's a history of false positives on obscure 3rd party software (due to aggressive hueristics, which are now tunable in the latest versions) and poor documentation on their products and pricing. For a security company, I think their webpage is pretty obtuse at times, and at others, it feels a bit spammy.

That being said, I've never seen better definitions or cleanup ability, and I tend to lean towards false positives rather than false negatives. I've been using Prevx since 2.0 was in Beta, and while I've tried to find replacements, I haven't been satisfied with their performance in the real world. 3.0 is their best product yet.
