Amanda Shannon is primarily a teacher of Elementary Education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Professional Communications, a Certificate of Children's Literature and a PA teaching certification in Elementary Education. She has experience working in the teaching field through formal teaching and through activities outside of the school atmosphere.
Amanda taught preschool for two years before deciding to return to graduate school to obtain her PA teaching certification. She worked as a student teacher in a Kindergarten classroom during her student teaching experience and fell in love with teaching that age group. Outside of the classroom, Amanda takes an avid interest in coaching a girls running program for 3rd-5th grade girls. Her array of teaching experiences has allowed her to work with children from many different grades and age groups.
Amanda's work as a writer for Brighthub allows her to bring her love for education and mix it with her love for writing. Amanda aspires to write and publish her own children's literature book one day and continue her education studies at the master's level.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys long distance running and has run several marathons. She takes an active interest in several non-profit organizations such as the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF), PETA and the Humane Society of the United States. Amanda is currently working on planning her own 5k in support of the NAAF.
