Whitespace [wahyt speys]

When used in regards to web design or development, the term whitespace refers to the empty space that surrounds an image or text. It is typically used to separate elements and make them easier to view. It is the complete lack of image or text. WYSIWYG

WYSIWYG is an acronym for What You See Is What You Get. Unlike other acronyms this one is not usually said with the letters. Instead, people usually use it only in writing and fully pronounce the phrase itself. The phrase describes a type of HTML editor that allows the user to design an HTML page by looking at the end image instead of completing each individual line of code. This type of program allows a person to develop a web page without having any knowledge of HTML.
